The new Traeger Timberline XL is a wood-pellet grill that not only slow-smokes and grills, but also sautés, simmers and sears meat with an induction cooktop. It boasts Wi-Fi technology, which lets you pair Bluetooth meat probes with your phone and control the grill anywhere, anytime from the Traeger App.
Beyond its touchscreen display and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the Timberline has smart combustion technology and dual-wall insulation to guarantee everything you make is cooked to perfection by maintaining consistent cooking temperatures and reducing temperature fluctuation. The Timberline’s exterior is registered as 18-gauge, powder-coated steel, which is the industry standard for pellet grills. Every stainless-steel component in the grill is 304-grade, the gold standard for outdoor equipment. The grill’s durable, brushless motor cooks meat with a temperature range of 165-500 degrees.
The Timberline XL not only has all the cooking features you need for a feast—it looks great, too. It has a sleek black corrosion-resistant finish, a bottom storage cabinet, light wooden shelving and a removable magnetic cutting board. On the left side of the grill system sits the modern induction cooktop and touchscreen. No detail was left untouched—even the bottom storage doors rest on soft-close hinges. And when you open the Timberline, three tiers of stainless-steel grates hold enough meat for cookouts with the entire family.
The Timberline XL can stand alone on your patio or be built into an outdoor kitchen space. Built-in pellet grills are a rarity on the grilling market, and when you can find them, they’re typically at a much higher price point. Between the pellet grill top and induction cooktop on the Timberline, you can complete just about any cooking task: Grill, smoke, bake, roast, sauté, simmer and sear to your heart’s content. Use the Traeger Induction Cast Iron Skillet to finish off steaks with the perfect sear or sauté asparagus to go with your ribeye.
Whether inside watching your favorite team score a touchdown or out for a walk with the pup, you can control your Timberline via your phone with the Traeger App. You can even connect it to your Alexa or Google Home device for voice control. In terms of customization, you can add an accessory rail, a grill tray, hooks, an extra-large shelf and a storage bin. Traeger hasn’t overlooked one detail when it comes to the Timberline XL.
And if you’re worried about cleaning this beast, don’t. The grease and ash pan collects drippings and pellet ash in one large tray underneath the grill. The tray is easily accessible for removal and quick cleaning.
The Timberline XL comes with a hefty price tag of $3,800. But for 1,320 square inches of cooking area and nearly every feature you could want in a grill, we think it’s worth it. If you want to save a few hundred dollars, there’s a smaller version of the Timberline retailing for $3,300. The best place to shop and customize your Timberline XL is directly at Traeger. You may also be able to snag one at your local Ace Hardware.
Whether you decide to go with the Timberline or the Timberline XL, you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re looking to go all out on Father’s Day this year, this might just be the gift Dad’s been wishing for forever.
