When I opened the Rest Evercool Cooling Sheet Set, I immediately felt how lightweight and cool the sheets were to touch. Getting into these sheets sent a cooling sensation through my legs, even when I was already hot. They’re super breathable and stretchy, too, so airflow from a fan or open window will be felt through the sheets. I also love that these sheets are made with an anti-microbial material, so I can feel good about snuggling into a clean bed at night.

I ordered the sheets in frosty peach, a creamy yellow color with pink tones. (They look slightly darker and pinker than pictured online.) They also come in grey and blue, but I wish more options were available. Though there are few colorways, the sheets are incredibly high-quality. The stretchy, breathable fabric is thin but not see-through. Best of all, they don’t wrinkle like many of the other sheet sets I tested, and they look as good as new after washing—which was not always the case with other sheets I tried.

My only complaint with the Rest Evercool Sheets was that they seemed to get marked up easily and show stains. Most of the time, they came out in the wash with no trouble, but if you’re easily bothered by marks and stains, I’d recommend opting for the grey color, as I think imperfections would be less visible.

These sheets cost about $300 per set, but you can’t beat their cooling properties. They also seem resistant to tearing or ripping and hold up wash after wash. Spring for the Rest Evercool Comforter to complete the coolest bedding set.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking; this price tag may not be exactly what you expect when shopping for budget sheets. However, the Olive + Crate Eucalyptus Sheets are luxury cooling sheets, and compared to the other options on this list, they are relatively more affordable. Honestly, they’re a good dupe for the Cozy Earth sheets. While these sheets are made with Tencel (not bamboo), they feel similar to bamboo sheets and are soft to the touch—and the material feels very cool to the touch.

There are 12 colorways and six size options. I went for the Basalt Blue color, which looks just like it does online. They’re as close to neutral as you can get with a blue hue, and I didn’t have any issues with staining. They wrinkle a bit after washing, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I loved these sheets!

Another bamboo option in the same price range as the sheets above is the Luxome Luxury Sheets—and they’re eco-friendly. The bamboo used is cultivated without chemicals or pesticides. Furthermore, bamboo is sustainable due to its natural renewing properties.

I chose the color dune, a warm, sandy shade, but ten other color options are available. Dune was stunning in person and is a great neutral option for those wanting to add a warm hue to their bedding. The sheets have corner bands to help keep them from slipping over the mattress. Truthfully, I didn’t have any issues with slippage or movement with any of the luxury sheets I tested for this list, bands or no bands.

These sheets are silky to the touch. However, I noticed some silkiness was lost after the first wash. These sheets were also much heavier than the others I tested. So, they took up more washer and dryer space, which is something to note if you have smaller appliances. On the bed, I didn’t find the weight to be obnoxious or to trap in heat. These might be the way to go if you prefer a thicker sheet.

Textures are important, especially when that texture is all you feel for an entire night’s slumber. If you don’t like the slick or silky feel of some cooling sheets, the BedGear VerTex Sheets feel more like a stretchy, high-quality t-shirt yet still maintain cooling properties on par with the rest of the sheets on this list.

These sheets are marketed as “your favorite activewear,” which is an incredibly accurate description. They feel like your nicest athletic shirt and are super stretchy, like a pair of leggings. If you like a jersey knit sheet, these nylon are a bit similar but far less warm. These sheets do not slip or slide at all because they don’t have a satin feel, and I didn’t find that they lost any softness after being washed.

Do you like cotton’s feel but want bamboo’s cooling properties? The Nolah Bamboo Sheet Set offers the best of both worlds. Thanks to the cotton blend, they’re soft, breathable and have a bit of plushness. The materials not only blend well together, but they also make the sheets a bit more affordable, too. Better yet, stain removal is a breeze with these lightweight sheets, which proved incredibly durable night after night and wash after wash. Wrinkles also came out quickly in the dryer, which is excellent, especially if you use these sheets on a guest bed.

These sheets are available in three neutral colors: White, tan and grey. I opted for the grey “silver” color, a lovely hue that will pull together any color palate with grey and white shades or tints.

With deep fitted sheet pockets, the Nolah sheets will fit on virtually any mattress up to 17 inches tall. The fitted sheet also has an elastic band around the entire edge to keep it in place while you toss and turn throughout the night.

I called in backup from other Family Handyman editors for the last two sets of sheets. When she first heard about the hype, Senior Editor Caroline Lubinsky knew she had to try these 100% cotton sheets for herself. Typically, we’d recommend staying away from 100% cotton sheets if you want a cooling effect. However, these sheets get softer with each wash, yet don’t make you sweat like you’ve just run a marathon. The Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheet Set is made with long-staple cotton, which is higher quality than the more basic short-staple cotton. In other words, long-staple cotton tends to be softer and look better over time than short-staple cotton.

The downside? These sheets are expensive, especially for cotton—a twin set starts at $228 and goes up with each size. However, the price becomes more justified when considering the materials are ethically sourced, and the sheets will likely last for years. Lubinsky tried out these sheets for five weeks and dutifully washed them each week. “They became cozier (without making me sweaty) wash after wash, like a well-worn T-shirt might. I was hooked,” Lubinsky says.

What is sateen anyway? It’s cotton or other non-silk fabric with silk satin qualities, but it is more affordable. It’s great for people who want a smooth, absorbent material that doesn’t wrinkle. The Molecule Sheets are a blend of cotton and lyocell (or Tencel), so they have the comfort of cotton with the moisture-wicking and cooling properties of lyocell.
